Association of Public Service Alliance Retirees

The involvement of Locals is capital in the creation and the design of an Association of Public Service Alliance Retirees. Locals are essential to this achievement. As already mentioned, several Locals are currently paying a member’s first year membership in APSAR. It’s already a sign of recognition towards the member who leaves his job, and it’s also a mark of trust towards all former PSAC members who try to organize themselves.
The Local is the source of information the Association needs to advance and challenge all the parameters that plot the complexity of the Public Service Pension Act. Today, we have proof that governments have no respect whatever for seniors and former members of our union who are retired. With a well structured Association, supported by Locals, we can ensure that all aspects of the pension become debatable and negotiable, which is currently not the case.
Local participation consists:
in providing the Association, as soon as possible, with the name and address of all the members who are retiring;
in recruiting all the members over 50 years old, by providing the name and address of those members to the Association;
in gathering the members’ concerns and questions on matters dealing with retirement and pension.
The Association formally commits to respecting the factors voluntarily and deliberately of the member in joining the organization.
It is high time that PSAC members take seriously all the aspects of retirement which are part of the continuity of life after work. A person’s dignity in retirement is based on conditions of retirement reflected and continually renewed and improved. It’s only by grouping ourselves in great numbers that we can maintain and demand this dignity.
