Eleven PSAC members were in attendance at the 44th Annual PEI Federation of Labour Convention, which was held on November 7-8.
This years guest speaker was Hassan Yussuf, Secretary/Treasurer
for the Canadian Labour Congress.

UVAE Executive advise their members to
"Keep an Eye on Negotiations"
An early morning plant gate was well accepted by members at all DVA worksites. A poster asking members to "Keep an Eye on Negotiations" included the website address to subscribe to electronic updates. The flip side of the poster was on "Privatization". Along with the posters, members were given a chocolate eyeball candy. Local Members participating included: Ian LeClair, Local President; Debi Buell, NVP; Laurie LeClair, Shop Steward; Beryl MacNeil, Local Secretary; Jody LaPierre, Leslie MacDonald, Shop Steward; 1st V-President and Council Member; and Ghassan Kassouf, Chief Shop Steward. PSAC Members Support Striking CUPE members
On Friday, October 24th, PSAC members joined CUPE National President, Paul Moist,
for a demonstration in support of striking members of CUPE Local 501.

Students for Sustainability Campus Tour
On Friday, October 3rd, the PSAC participated in the Students for Sustainability Campus Tour at the University of Prince Edward Island. This tour is comprised of exhibitions, speaking engagements and a documentary film, showcasing the many realities of climate change.
Brother Dave Clow, President Local 90140 set up a PSAC booth with organizing and Think Public material. Brother Vaughan Davies, Local 90023 gave a speech on behalf of the PSAC. The Charlottetown stop was well attended and received.

Collective Bargaining Rally
120 plus turned out to Rally in Charlottetown around Negotiations!
The rally opened with greetings from PEI Federation of Labour Vice President Blair Penny. This was followed by updates from speakers Dawn Hardy, PEI Regional Council Representative, and Ian LeClair, President of UVAE Local 90001.
Questions were respectful and a strong political message was evident in most everyones comments.

August 06 – Parks Demo at Green Gables
Parks membrs gave up their noon break to protest Govermen’t disrespect for their work.
One year since their collective agreement expired and no reasonable wage offer.
They also handed out information on the discrimination in their pay due to zones.
Parks workers at other sites wore black t-shirts in support.

Health Care Demonstration
Representatives of the PSAC participated in a Health Care demonstration today in solidarity with
our brothers and sisters of Quebec, who have been targeted as ground zero for privatization of
the Health care in Canada. On May 3rd fifty different unions, student organizations and activists
will be on the streets in Quebec to oppose the apparent drift to the 2 tier health care system.
Carl Pursey, President of the PEI Federation of Labour, opened the 7th annual Day of Mourning Ceremony honouring workers killed or injured on the job. Labour Minister, Carolyn Bertram and Charlene MacInnis, an injured worker, also spoke to the issue. Five members of the PSAC along with Acting PSAC Rep for PEI, Scott Gallant, were in attendance. The ceremony was held at the workers monument in front of the Coles Building in Charlottetown.
