Vancouver was one of the first airports that went from Transport Canada to an Airport Authority (1992).  It is the second busiest airport in Canada and is in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The bargaining unit includes approximately 250 employees responsible for emergency response; runway maintenance; airfield & approach lighting; computer systems; maintenance of airport equipment; administrative services and baggage systems & passenger loading bridges.  These members fall under the Canada Labour Code.
