PSAC convention forum links human rights and environment
TORONTO – The Public Service Alliance of Canada's 14th triennial national convention is making the link between human rights and the environment. The union is also waiting to see what the federal budget has in store for Canadian workers and federal public sector workers in particular.
WHO:
Speakers at the convention's human rights forum:
- Sandra Carnegie-Douglas, co-founder of the Coalition of African Canadian Community Organizations and a program director with the Canadian Race Relations Foundation.
- Terry Fenge, author and strategic counsel to the Chair of the Inuit Circumpolar Conference, specializing in Aboriginal rights and interests and environmental issues such as climate change and biodiversity conservation.
- Maria Eva Villate, lawyer, human rights instructor and president of ASDEP, the Union of Public Employees of the People's Defender's Office in Colombia and expert on the criminalization of social protests.
The forum will be chaired by OXFAM Canada Executive Director Robert Fox.

The Federal Budget
