Still waiting…
In an effort to negotiate a new collective agreement, your CFIA bargaining team had hoped to meet with the employer several months ago, prior to the expiration of our collective agreement on December 31st, 2007. Unfortunately the employer was not ready. We finally met with their representatives January 15 and 16 for a short 1-1/2 day session to exchange our respective packages of demands.
Prior to our meeting with the employer, the team caucused to discuss the upcoming round of negotiations. The team’s representatives to the PSAC National Strategy Coordinating Committee met January 18th to map out a plan of action for this round of bargaining.
Sadly, the CFIA bargaining team will not meet again until the end of March due to the fact the employer was not in a position to meet with us until then. All team members expressed their extreme frustration that we will again experience employer delays in negotiating a collective agreement, even though we had received many assurances that this would not happen.
The final packages of demands presented by PSAC and CFIA will be posted to the website following completion of translation.
