Let's Get Ready to Bargain

Canada Post Workers from Across the Country Gather in Ottawa this Week to Prepare for Bargaining.

Beginning this Wednesday March 12th through to Friday March 14th the PSAC National Bargaining Conference for Canada Post workers will be taking place in Ottawa. Delegates from every local across the country will be electing National Bargaining Team members, prioritizing bargaining demands and participating in mobilization workshops in preparation for the coming round of negotiations with Canada Post.

Over the past few months our union has conducted a successful Rand campaign ensuring that all of our members at Canada Post are accounted for, followed by a worksite survey campaign and local membership meetings to assemble bargaining demands for consideration this week. We have also conducted an analysis of what other Canada Post workers have won in rounds of bargaining that have taken place over the last three years since we signed our current agreement.

All of this information will be taken into account this week as national delegates discuss the issues and potential strategies for winning a fair contract with Canada Post. The conference will also include the participation of PSAC Executive Vice President Gerry Halabecki, UPCE National President Richard Des Lauriers and representatives from CUPW to discuss current and future collaborative efforts between our respective unions. There will also be a key presentation by PSAC National President John Gordon.

On Saturday our newly elected team will finalize our demands for membership ratification in the coming months. Stay tuned as further efforts unfold in preparation for winning a fair contract that makes Canada Post a better place to work.
