Hamlet of Arviat – Tentative agreement ratified
The Public Service Alliance of Canada reached a tentative agreement with the Hamlet of Arviat. The agreement, reached with the help of a conciliation officer, was ratified by the membership on April 10, 2008.
Highlights of the three year agreement include:
- Wage increases of 3 per cent in each year of the agreement;
- Settlement Allowance increased to $6,500;
- Land Vacation Travel Assistance increases;
- Improvements to Vacation Leave (30 days after 20 years);
- Pay adjustments for a majority of members effective April 1, 2007;
- New language on Freedom from Harassment, Freedom from Workplace Violence, Standby provisions, and Apprentices.
PSAC members in Arviat provide key municipal services such as water and sewage services and building maintenance. They also maintain the airport, provide airport observer/communications and provide administrative support at municipal levels.
The revised collective agreement has an expiry date of March 31, 2010
