Statistical Survey Operations Bargaining Units

Negotiations have started with an exchange of bargaining demands

The SSO Regional Office (RO) team met with the Employer on March 18 and 19 and presented their full package of demands. The SSO Field Interviewers (FI) team followed on April 15 and 16, 2008 with their demands.

At both tables, the Employer presented only a small handful of proposals, saying that they were very pleased with the contract as it is.

Your team members are:

Elected to serve on the RO Negotiating Committee at the National Bargaining Conference last December are Rejean Amyotte from Central Region, Jeanne Elson from Eastern Region, and Rudy Mehra from Western Region.

Representing the Field Interviewers are Mary Anne Walker from Central Region (who is also an RVP, National Component); Geraldine Fortin from Eastern Region, and Donna Henry from the Western Region and Northern Territories.

Gail Lem is the Negotiator assigned by PSAC to both sets of negotiations, and the Research Officer is Elisabeth Woods.

We're back at the table soon

Negotiations will resume the week of May 26 at the RO table, and the week of June 2 at the FI table.

Meanwhile, while exchanging proposals for the FI group, the Employer asked whether we would be ready to bring our wage proposals to the next session. We informed the Employer that we have no intention of bringing our economic package to either table until we have had a full and satisfactory discussion about our operational demands.

Your bargaining teams are very concerned about the many injustices in the two Collective Agreements and the need to greatly improve our working conditions. We hope that management will consider our proposals with the seriousness they deserve.
