Mint Workers Ratify Tentative Agreement
Members from Government Services Union Locals 70024 and 50057 voted to ratify their tentative agreement with the Royal Canadian Mint on May 14. Highlights of the three-year deal include a 3 per cent wage increase in each year, increased shift premiums and the recognition of seniority as the criteria for appointment to term assignments. The agreement resolves outstanding classification issues and the role of the Joint Job Evaluation Committee. Other highlights include a grievance process specifically for classification issues, 12-month recall rights for employees with less seniority, an apprenticeship program for Assayers and Assay Technicians and a $500 bonus. The agreement was ratified by a margin of 70 per cent.
