PSAC Bargaining Units with Treasury Board (PA, SV, TC, EB, FB)

Is that all there is?

Your PA negotiating team was the first of the union's team to be presented with Treasury Board's monetary offer.  It consisted of a woefully inadequate economic increase and nothing else.

Treasury Board had the nerve to propose 1.5% for 2007, 1.5% for 2008, 1.2% for 2009 and 1.2% for 2010 in a four-year agreement.

Your team was outraged.

In the middle of the bad news…

The only good news to report from our latest round of bargaining is that we have withstood all of the employer's demands for concessions. Even the Treasury Board demands to turn members at Service Canada and others into shift workers have been withdrawn by the employer.

Getting angry isn't enough

While your team was angered by the Treasury Board offer, we weren't really surprised. This government has shown little enough respect for our members to date. However, it's ironic that Treasury Board and the departments are claiming thousands and thousands of jobs are essential at the same time as they are putting this miserable offer on the table.

But feeling bad or getting angry isn't enough. We need all of our members to send the employer a message that this offer just doesn't cut it.

On and after June 19, members will be mobilizing across the country. Activities will be taking place at worksites and central locations, all designed to send the same message: we want and deserve better.

The rising cost of oil doesn't just mean paying more for gas. As fuel costs rise, so does everything from food to diapers. Increases of 1.5% and 1.2% means we'll be falling even further behind.

On June 19, your team will be visibly demonstrating for a better offer. We need all of you to be out there too.

We're united and we're strong!

Your PA team: Megan Adam, Ken Boone, Michele Coe, Sharon DeSousa, Debbie Graham, Louiselle Laforest, Doug Marshall, Sylvie Pinard, Geoff Ryan.
