Delegates and observers to the Atlantic regional convention took to the streets in Moncton on June 20 to vent their anger with Treasury Board’s recent wage offer. Almost 300 members took their “Walk for Respect” from the convention hotel to Moncton’s City Hall. The day of the Walk coincided with the one-year anniversary of the expiry date of the agreement covering the 80,000 member Program and Administrative Services bargaining unit.
National President John Gordon thanked the delegates for their commitment to defending quality public services, as highlighted in their convention theme “Public Services – An Atlantic Tradition”. He described how the Conservative government’s devotion to debt reduction will do nothing to grow the economy and counter the effects of a slowdown. Instead of tax cuts and cuts to federal programs, we need investment in social programs and environmental protection.
The convention re-elected incumbent Regional Executive Vice-President Jeannie Baldwin by acclamation. Delegates also elected Lise Levesque as their new alternate REVP. Lise holds the position of National Vice-President for New Brunswick in the PSAC’s Canada Employment and Immigration Union.Home Site Map Contact Us Bargaining Search Join Our Union Français
