PSAC members show support for their negotiating team at the National Gallery of Canada
More than one hundred PSAC members at the NGC held an information picket line during their lunch hour to show their support for their negotiating team.
Negotiations between PSAC Local 70397 and the Gallery began in June 2010 and the employer refuses to agree to a fair salary increase.
Larry Rousseau, the newly elected PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President for the National Capital Region, said that workers at the NGC can count on the support of the PSAC.
“These workers provide Canadians with a very important cultural service,” Rousseau said. “When we fight on their behalf, we make sure Canadians continue to receive the quality public services they are entitled to.”
“We organized this demonstration to let the public know about the Gallery’s refusal to negotiate,” says David Bosschaart, President of the PSAC Local at the NGC. “We just want a fair contract that provides service pay, improved job security and some protection against inflation.”
