A very excited Kristen Dunsford received an iPad from Bob Jackson, B.C. Regional Executive Vice President,on November 25.

Kristen became a steward in 2005 as a worker at the RCMP in Prince George. She was recruited by the president of her local. She says that at first she hesitated to take on the role because she worried that the task would be daunting and that she wouldn't have extra time to devote to “paper work.”

Six years later, Kristen says that she couldn't be happier to be a steward. She says she received top-notch training and support which has helped her succeed. She especially enjoys helping to resolve conflicts in the workplace. Kristen sees the value in having a workplace where everyone is happy to come into the office everyday and works hard to ensure that it happens.

When asked what she would say to someone who is thinking about becoming a steward Kristen says emphatically that “they should do it” because the job is rewarding and fun. She says that her employer has never painted her with a negative brush – in fact, her boss sees union involvement as a way of showing that you care about your workplace.
