The judge was John Grenville former site mgr of Bellevue House. And it is also John Grenville who is presenting John Coleman with the congratulatory letter from the Prime minister. Donna Lusk a steward at Bellevue house is putting the cuffs on him. Being a historian and monarchy buff the group saw fit to have the Queen appear (or at least the Queen's stand in Steve Weir from the Rideau Canal) and Knight John as Sir John. A good time was had by all.

Make Poverty History - 10th. Anniversary Silent Vigil

At 5:00 PM on October 17, 2005, the staff of the PSAC Kingston Regional Office joined about 250 participants at Kingston City Hall to mark the 10th anniversary of silent vigils organized by the Sisters of Providence. Participants encircled Kingston City Hall with two large banners covered in slogans such as "Make Poverty History", "End Legislated Povery" and "Greed = Need". The vigil coincided with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. See Pictures.

    USGE Information Picket

The noon hour demo at RHQ in Kingston went very well. There were between 75 and 100 members on the line, wearing picket signs, waving flags and leafletting. Representatives from the newspaper Kingston This Week and CKWS TV were there - Ian Chinnery did a long interview with the TV folks who said they had so many sound bites to choose from, they didnt know which ones they would use.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Therese Leblanc came out of her office and actually walked the line with the members, though she was reluctant to carry a picket sign!!

The culminating moment was when copies of the PFA clause from the collective agreement were handed out to the members, and everyone ripped them up in a symbolic gesture of disgust. TV crew caught that - news at 6!!

Great turnout, great feedback, great morale on the line - everyone is on board on this issue.
